Anuppur District of Madhya Pradesh (Phase 1)
To develop effective systems through planting horticulture species to improving and stabilize livelihood of Tribal families in Kotma & Anuppur block of Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh.
Kotma is a last municipality and Tehsil in Anuppur Districts, State of Madhya Pradesh. It is situated near Kewai River. It is located in the border of Chhattisgarh. Manendragarh is the nearest town from kotma, which is situated in Chhattisgarh. The climate varies with temperature of 26o and 46o. Nearly 33% of the district is covered by forest consisting of trees such as Sal, Teak, Sarai, Sisham and Mahua. There is trade in agricultural and forest produce. Agriculture is rain fed and exposed to vagaries of monsoon.
Anuppur Districts is also known for its coal mines mostly located in Kotma block and also for minerals such as bauxite and fire clayCoal mines and its attendant problems are also leading to large scale environmental degradation, one such problem is exhaustive deforestation of the forest area.
This project will positively affect the lives of the 1000 small and marginal tribal families of Kotma & Anuppur block. Nearly, all of the families will involve in plantation activities, take care of the plantation, and are benefitted in future. This plantation would also help to counter balance the carbon, generating through mining activities going on in these areas.
